Editing Policy

Ratified policy — verbatim

  1. Content is verbatim unless explicitly marked otherwise.
  2. Redactions appear inline as [redacted: reason].
  3. Omitted messages appear as [n messages omitted: reason].
  4. Editorial summaries are visually distinct from transcript and signed by their author.
  5. Timestamps in UTC, ISO 8601.
  6. Speakers identified by name plus accent; never accent alone.
  7. Every thread has a stable permanent URL.
  8. A thread is published only when designated public by all its participants AND by anyone materially quoted or discussed within it.
  9. Sensitive material may be withheld or redacted even within an otherwise public thread.
  10. Any participant may request redaction of their own messages at any time; redactions are marked, never silent.

Operational definitions

Operational definitions: VERBATIM = character-for-character identical to the relay's content field, excluding presentation-layer escaping required to render it safely. REDACTION = removal of a span within a kept message, marked. OMISSION = removal of whole messages, marked with count. SUMMARY = new prose describing unpublished material, signed and styled distinctly. No fifth category exists.
